What We Rewind
Every Voltage. Every Application.
REM rewinds AC and DC motors across all voltage levels and winding types — from standard low-voltage industrial motors to medium-voltage and specialty designs requiring VPI insulation systems.
Low-Voltage Motors
AC and DC, random- and form-wound configurations across all standard NEMA and IEC frame sizes for industrial, commercial, and municipal applications.
Medium-Voltage Motors
Up to 13.2 kV — rewound using form-wound coils, upgraded slot insulation, and vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) to ensure maximum dielectric strength and long-term reliability.
Specialty & High-Voltage Motors
Synchronous motors, wound rotor designs, and custom configurations — including motors above 13.2 kV requiring specialist high-voltage rewind capabilities. See our High-Voltage Rewinds page for details.
Our Rewind Process
Precision at Every Stage.
Every rewind follows a disciplined process — from incoming inspection and core testing through precision rewinding, VPI treatment, and documented electrical verification before the motor returns to service.
01
Incoming Inspection
Each motor is evaluated for electrical and mechanical condition to confirm a rewind is the most effective solution. Nameplate data, as-received condition, and failure modes are documented for full traceability.
02
Core Preparation & Testing
Stator and rotor cores are stripped, cleaned, and core-loss tested to identify hidden lamination damage that could compromise the rewind’s performance before work begins.
03
Precision Rewinding & VPI
Upgraded insulation systems are installed and motors are rewound using methods tailored to voltage and application. Medium- and high-voltage motors receive vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) to maximize dielectric strength and long-term reliability.
04
Reassembly & Mechanical Checks
Bearings, shafts, and housings are inspected, machined, or replaced as needed. Dynamic balancing and vibration analysis ensure smooth operation before final assembly.
05
Testing & Verification
Every rewound motor undergoes surge and hi-pot testing, resistance checks, vibration analysis, and no-load or load testing. Results are documented in a complete test report delivered with the motor.
06
Delivery or Reinstallation
Your rewound motor is safely returned, and our field service team is available for reinstallation, precision alignment, and commissioning — closing the loop so you return to production with confidence.
Shop + Field Integration
From Rewind to Recommissioning.
Our service doesn’t end at the shop door. If your operation requires motor removal, transportation, or reinstallation, our field service team handles it seamlessly — providing a single point of accountability from failure to full return to service.
Removal & Rigging
On-site removal and rigging for motors of any size — from small NEMA frames to large industrial machines requiring crane and rigging coordination. We handle the logistics so you don’t have to.
Alignment & Balancing
Laser alignment and dynamic balancing during reinstallation to prevent premature bearing wear, reduce vibration, and ensure the motor runs smoothly from the moment it returns to service.
On-Site Diagnostics
Vibration analysis, insulation resistance testing, and load checks performed at your facility — identifying issues before they become failures and validating performance after reinstallation.
Turnkey Project Management
Full project coordination from disassembly through recommissioning — a single point of contact and accountability so nothing falls through the cracks between shop work and field installation.
Rewind or Replace?
We Help You Make the Right Call.
Sometimes a rewind isn’t the most cost-effective path. REM evaluates both options honestly — and when replacement makes more sense, we supply new motors from leading manufacturers and help you transition fast.
When a Rewind Makes Sense
Large or specialty motors with long replacement lead times, motors in hard-to-source frame sizes, applications requiring custom specifications, or situations where rewind cost is well below replacement cost.
When Replacement Makes Sense
Motors with repeated failures, significant core damage, severely worn frames, or where a new premium-efficiency motor delivers a strong total cost of ownership case. We’ll tell you honestly which way the math points.
New Motor Supply
REM supplies new motors from WEG, Baldor, Marathon, US Motors, and TECO-Westinghouse when replacement is the right answer — matching the application and delivering fast from regional inventory.
Why REM
The Standard Behind Every Rewind
