Motor Rewinds
When a motor fails, replacement isn’t always the best answer. A professional rewind can restore your equipment to like-new performance—and often improve efficiency beyond its original design. At REM Industrial, we apply upgraded insulation systems, precision winding techniques, and rigorous testing to deliver rewinds that extend motor life and reduce long-term operating costs.
What We Rewind
- Low-voltage motors — AC and DC, random- and form-wound
- Medium-voltage motors — up to 13.2 kV
- Specialty motors — synchronous, wound rotor, and custom designs
- Industrial applications — manufacturing, utilities, HVAC, municipal, and more
- High-Voltage motors – those above 13.2 kV
Why Choose REM
- Upgraded materials — insulation and winding systems designed for longer life and higher reliability
- Best-practice methods — workmanship that meets or exceeds OEM standards
- Root-cause focus — we fix the cause, not just the symptom
- Shop + field integration — from rewind to reinstallation, we handle the full lifecycle
Integration with Rewinds & Field Service
When testing or inspection reveals that a rewind is the best solution, REM Industrial applies upgraded insulation systems, precision winding techniques, and industry best practices that often improve performance beyond original OEM standards. Every rewind is followed by comprehensive electrical and mechanical testing to verify efficiency gains, thermal integrity, and long-term reliability.
Our service doesn’t end at the shop door. If your operation requires motor removal, transportation, or reinstallation, our field service team handles it seamlessly. We provide:
- Onsite removal and rigging for motors of any size
- Alignment and laser balancing during reinstallation to prevent premature wear
- Onsite diagnostics including vibration analysis, insulation resistance testing, and load checks
- Turnkey project management from disassembly to recommissioning
This integrated approach ensures your equipment is not only repaired but also properly reinstalled, aligned, and verified under real-world conditions—closing the loop so you return to production with confidence.
Our Process
HOW IT ALL COMES TOGETHER
Incoming Inspection
We evaluate each motor’s electrical and mechanical condition to determine if a rewind is the most effective solution. Nameplate data, as-received condition, and failure modes are documented for traceability.
Core Preparation
Stator and rotor cores are stripped, cleaned, and core-loss tested to ensure there is no hidden lamination damage that could compromise performance.
Precision Rewinding
We install upgraded insulation systems and rewind using methods tailored to your voltage and application. For medium- and high-voltage motors, we use vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) to maximize dielectric strength and long-term reliability.
Reassembly and mechanical Checks
Bearings, shafts, and housings are inspected, machined, or replaced as needed. Dynamic balancing and vibration analysis ensure smooth operation.
Testing and Verification
Every rewound motor undergoes surge and hi-pot testing, resistance checks, vibration analysis, and either no-load or load testing. Results are documented in a clear test report.
Delivery or reinstallation
Your rewound motor is safely returned, and our field service team is available for reinstallation, alignment, and commissioning.
Rewind or Replace?
Sometimes a rewind isn’t the most cost-effective path. In those cases, REM Industrial supplies new motors from leading manufacturers and helps you evaluate whether a rewind or replacement is the better investment for long-term reliability.
